Neighborhood Signage
Through Trucks Prohibited Signs
The Transportation Committee is proud to inform you that our PETITIONS HAVE PAID OFF!
Jefferson Manor's petitions for Through Trucks Prohibited signs have been heard—VDOT asked
the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors to proceed with a public hearing on the matter on Monday, January 9, 2006.
The hearing was held in the Board Room Auditorium at the Fairfax County Government Center
(12000 Government Center Parkway, Fairfax, VA 22035). Spencer Brooks and Dawn Wyse testified at the hearing and our
request was approved. The County will now conduct a study, then post the signs. We may expect the signs to show up by the end of Summer 2006.
One-way Signs
Having observed gross traffic violations in our neighborhood, the Transportation Committee is also investigating whether our
one-way traffic system is properly labeled by law. Improper and downright missing signage in our community may be contributing
to problems such as wrong-way traffic and dangerous driving. Committee chair Spencer Brooks has been looking into VDOT's road
regulations to arrange a street sign evaluation for Jefferson Manor.
Neighborhood Watch Signs
Our active Neighborhood Watch recently installed new "Neighborhood Watch" as well as "Jefferson Manor" signs at the entrances to our neighborhood with the help of Officer Kottemann from the Mount Vernon District Station.
