Newsletter Distribution
Newsletters are printed approximately 12 days prior to each JMCA general meeting. If you are a newsletter distributor, you will be contacted by the Newsletter Committee Chair every two months when the newsletters are ready and asked to pick up your route's newsletters. We ask that newsletters be delivered 10 or more days prior to the general meeting (the 3rd Tuesday of the month), as this improves attendance at meetings and helps make people aware of upcoming events before they pass.
When delivering newsletters
- Remember that it is against the law to place newsletters in, on, behind, or clipped to mailboxes. If the door has a mail slot, however, you MAY put the newsletter through the slot.
- Other creative places to put newsletters include:
- Tucked partway under a doormat
- Rolled up and stuck in the handle of a screen door
- Between the screen door and the front door
- Rolled up and stuck into a link of a chain link fence/gate (bent so it stays put)
- Try to put the newsletter in a place where it is both visible and unlikely to blow away/get wet. You may wish to take along paper clips, rubber bands, or even plastic newspaper bags to secure newsletters in some cases.
- You may deliver at any time of the day you wish; however, remember that if you deliver after dark you may startle some residents, so do so respectfully and with caution.
- Be cautious around dogs in front yards; you can always leave the newsletter stuck in the gate/fence.
- If you encounter residents who come to the door when you are delivering a newsletter, or who walk up to you, it is a good idea to explain that you are there to deliver their JMCA neighborhood newsletter. This usually allays any potential suspicion.
