Frequently Asked Questions

Q:Will this effect emergency vehciles? Snow removal?

A: Studies show that speed humps add 3-10 seconds to emergency response times. Since the speed humps are designed and installed by VDOT, they are built to be compatable with snow removal.

Q: What is the longevity of the speed hump?

A: They are built to hold up as long as the road surface does. Given the conditions of the affected roads in Jefferson Manor, 10 years is a good guideline.

Q: How much does the project cost? Who is paying?

A: Speed humps cost roughly $7000 per unit. With the striping, the project is estimated to cost $25,000. This money comes from the county, via VDOT

  3. Speed hump adjacent to 2621, 2622, and 2624 Farmington Drive

  4. Parking lanes striping on Fort and Farmington Drives

The proposed design has the full support of the JMCA Board of Directors.
